Decorating, repairs and small building jobs leave behind far more mess than you expect. Even when the work itself is tidy, fine dust settles on every surface — and keeps reappearing for days if it isn’t cleaned properly.
Why post-work dust is so stubborn
Sanding, drilling and cutting create very fine particles that float in the air before settling. They get into cupboards, onto door frames, along skirting boards and deep into carpets. A quick dust just moves them around.
What a proper clean-up involves
- High-level dusting first — tops of doors, frames, light fittings and shelves
- Wiping every surface with damp microfibre cloths to trap dust rather than spread it
- Skirting boards, door frames and window sills throughout
- Inside cupboards and drawers near the work area
- Radiators and behind them
- Thorough vacuuming, including edges and under furniture
- Hard floors mopped, sometimes more than once
Timing it right
Wait until all the work is finished — including snagging and touch-ups — before booking the clean. Otherwise you’ll be cleaning twice.
What we do and don’t cover
Our deep cleans are ideal after decorating or repairs in a lived-in home. We don’t remove building waste, rubble or large debris, and paint splashes or plaster on surfaces may need specialist treatment — tell us about the work when you book so we can advise.
