There’s no single rule, but most homes benefit from a full deep clean once or twice a year, with some areas needing attention more often. Here’s a practical guide.
The whole home: every 6–12 months
For most households, a full deep clean every six to twelve months keeps build-up under control. Many people book one in spring and another before Christmas or hosting family.
Kitchens: more often
Kitchens collect grease fast, especially extractor hoods, hobs and the areas around the cooker. If you cook most days, a kitchen deep clean every three to six months stops grease becoming baked on and much harder to shift.
Bathrooms: watch the limescale
Surrey, Sussex and much of South London have hard water, which means limescale builds up quickly on taps, showerheads, glass screens and tiles. Regular descaling helps, but a professional deep clean every few months removes the stubborn layers that everyday products struggle with.
Signs your home is overdue
- Grease on the extractor hood or cupboard doors near the cooker
- White, crusty limescale on taps and shower screens
- Dust on skirting boards, door frames and the tops of wardrobes
- Mould or dark marks in shower sealant and grout
- A room that’s become a “don’t look” zone
Life changes that call for a deep clean
Moving in, a new baby arriving, pets, building or decorating work, or getting a house ready to sell are all good times for a one-off deep clean — regardless of when the last one was.
